Welcome back to “Book Love with Cassey and Keiden”! I’m Cassey, and Keiden is my 2 year old son. Every two weeks, I will be sharing our favourite children’s books with you, along with giving you an out-of-five rating on how much Keiden loves rereading the book, and how much I love rereading it. This week we are looking at Harry and the Dinosaurs Go to School by Ian Whybrow and Adrian Reynolds.
We found Harry and the Dinosaurs Go to School at our local library and we were pleased to discover that it is part of a 14 part series, so many other books to enjoy! If you’ve got a little who loves dinosaurs then this is well worth checking out. It is recommended for children from the age of 3, but Keiden has loved it since before he turned 2. You can find the series in most online stores, the best price we found was definitely Readers Warehouse!
Harry and the Dinosaurs Go to School is another of the books we incorporated into bedtime reading to help Keiden ease into the idea of school. Harry is starting school and luckily, he has a bucket of friends who go along with him. He has moments of shyness, but overcomes them by helping a classmate who is even more shy than he is.
This one is a favorite of mine because it shows that each child is different. Some aren’t shy, others are…but they can all become friends and get to know their classmates better. It also had the different dinosaurs show the various emotions that come to the fore when going to school. One dinosaur was extremely afraid of going to school, something that many littles can identify with.
Keiden particularly enjoyed the RAAAH the dinosaurs made, giving this book a 4/5 on his reread scale. I give it a 5/5 – dinosaurs are great 😉
