Welcome back to “Book Love with Cassey and Keiden”! I’m Cassey, and Keiden is my 2 year old son. I share reviews of our favourite children’s books. I also add an out-of-five rating on how much Keiden loves rereading the book, and how much I love rereading it. This week we are looking at Orange Pear Apple Bear by Emily Gravett.
You might wonder just how much fun could be had with a book of five words? A lot of fun. Orange Pear Apple Bear, with the addition of there, are rearranged throughout the book to introduce a variety of different concepts to your little one.
Emily Gravett, a mom herself, draws the most wonderful illustrations. And the words accompanying them are always just right. I first came across her work with Wolves, which Keiden will need to wait a few years to read. Orange Pear Apple Bear, in the meanwhile, is the perfect fit for us.
It is the book that just keeps on giving. It’s been in Keiden’s library for over a year now, but would easily delight a 6 month old. The pictures are lovely and you find yourself reading it in a sing-song rhyme. It is one of the few books that doesn’t lose its charm with the sixth reread at bedtime.
With this being a regular staple in day or night reading, Keiden does the cutest thing when we’re reading it… he ‘reads’ the book too. It makes my book-loving heart all kinds of happy when he does this!
Needless to say he gives this a 5/5 on the rereading, and so do I.
