We attended the most recent Clicks BabyClub event last week. There are so many gorgeous new items coming in to stores between now and the end of the year. There has never been a better time to sign up for the Clicks BabyClub.
The petrol price is on the increase and food costs are at an all-time high. A loyalty card can be a great tool to help with monthly spending… but you need to know how best to use it. A loyalty programme like Clicks BabyClub can help ease the financial pressure.
“Especially when stocking up on toiletries and baby essentials,” says Clicks ClubCard Executive Heloise Janse van Rensburg. “It’s important to shop around and make sure you are getting the best deal in terms of loyalty programme benefits.”
“Clicks BabyClub has a higher percentage saving in cashback compared to other retail baby reward programmes. ClubCard members earn double points on selected baby products and clinic services every day which equates to 4% cashback. You can use the cashback for purchases in-store. Look out also for additional 10% savings during promo periods and great 3 for 2 deals.”
Research suggests that the cost of raising a child in South Africa is estimated at around R2 million for the first 23 years. That’s R90 000 a year or R7 200 a month per child for a middle-income family!
Monthly costs usually include medical aid, toiletries, clothing, childcare, education and entertainment. In the first year and a half of your child’s life, there is a surge in costs, which usually evens out after your child turns two, with expenses increasing exponentially year-on-year, as your child enters the education system.
“Whatever your child’s life stage, a loyalty programme can really help when times are tough… So that you can concentrate on enjoying your family and saving for the big stuff, such as tertiary education,” she says.
These are our favourite Clicks BabyClub items for this season
We are so happy that Oh So Heavenly has brought out the Forest Fun range specifically for tots and toddlers! Mild enough for toddler skin, but able to gently clean away all the dirt our little humans seem to accumulate. The soothing smell of 100% natural Rooibos and the huge fluffy bubbles make for a very happy little person.
There is something absolutely enchanting about the Little London starry dummy from Tommee Tippee. The teat shape on the dummy is similar to a bottle teat, making it more familiar feeling for baby. Its symmetrical orthodontic shape supports natural oral development. It is BPA-free and comes in two age stages, 0-6 months and 6-18 months.
The Farm Fresh range was out favourite release from 2017 and it remains so! The skin freshener is perfect for Summer after Charly has been running around like crazy at school. It is gentle, cooling and smells lovely.
We are particularly excited to try the new nourishing glycerine bar as Charly loves bars of soap, but the general use ones make me nervous with her sensitive skin. Natural oats and milk extracts mean that she can confidently wash herself with this one!
Sunscreen is the bane of my existence. I can never find the one I need and the big bottles inevitably crack and leak in my bag. I have been a fan of the Oh-Lief skincare range for many years, so I am thrilled to try this natural sunscreen out!
According to their website, “This broad-spectrum sunblock is made using non-nano zinc oxide, a natural soft mineral that sits on the skin without sinking in. That means the Oh-Lief sunscreen creates a physical “sun-blocking” barrier, protecting your skin without absorbing into your bloodstream.
This fragrance-free, water resistant SPF30 sunblock is ideal for use all over your body. It provides UVA & UVB (broad spectrum) protection, is water resistant, won’t irritate or dry out the skin and won’t clog pores. It is ideal fro everyday use on sensitive skin.”
Every year I can’t wait to see the Christmas gift sets from Oh So Heavenly. My mother, aunt and oldest friend know that they receive their favourites from the collection. The Mum & Cherubs range is for moms and moms-to-be. They combine natural active ingredients improving skin suppleness and preserving the skin’s moisture.
We are big fans of the Clicks Made 4 Baby range. As you can see, the new calm nights baby wipes are already a firm favourite… We have probably used half the pack in just a week. They smell so lovely and come out the pack easily one by one.
Charly has had several reactions to various brands of wipes, so I am always cautious when trying new ones. She ripped into this pack before I had a chance to check them and luckily she had no reaction! She is refusing to use any other wipes and is currently sick, so they have been used to clean her runny nose and wipe her face constantly with no issues.
So these are our favourites, although there are many more. Which are you most excited to try?
