Golden milk is traditionally made by warming up milk with turmeric, cinnamon and ginger. Curcumin, turmeric’s most significant compound, has medicinal properties. For instance reduced joint pain, arthritis and inflammation. Additionally it is often used to boost immunity.
There are claims that golden milk can be used to treat a variety of conditions. For example depression, blood sugar levels, heart function, blood pressure, and digestion. Golden Milk Recipe
1/2 cup (120ml) of an unsweetened milk of your choice
1 tsp of turmeric
1 small piece of grated fresh ginger or 1/2 tsp of ginger powder
1/2 tsp of cinnamon powder
1 pinch of ground black pepper
1 tsp of honey (optional)
To make the golden milk, simply mix all ingredients in a small saucepan. Then bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes. It is ready when it is fragrant and flavorful. Strain the drink through a fine strainer into mugs. Top with a pinch of cinnamon.
You can make golden milk in advance. You can be store it in the fridge for up to five days. Simply reheat it before drinking.
In conclusion use a milk with both calcium and vitamin D. Also limit the amount of honey that you add to your drink. This way you can reap the most health benefits.
