A Rainbows and Unicorns Party
Well done to JODIE SAMUALS for thinking up this Rainbows and Unicorns theme for your rainbow baby! Your prize is a very special voucher from Berry & Flambé for a themed cake of your choice!!! Mellissa will be in touch soon!
So, let’s do this!! Let’s Party with Rainbows and Unicorns!
1. Why this theme?
Unicorns are all the rage right now. And I get it – I totally get it! It is a brilliant theme, because every little girl (and boy) wants to believe in a bit of magic. The fact that unicorns pair perfectly with rainbows and the little girl who this theme was created for is a very special rainbow baby, adds its own brand of magic. So, let’s make some magic with this party theme!
You could swing two ways with this theme… bold, bright rainbow colours or lots of white with pastel rainbows. I personally love the white-with-pastel look. It makes the food pop on the party table, which makes all the effort that goes into choosing it so much more worth it. The party designers at Berry & Flambé Southern Suburbs come up with the greatest ideas for the treat table to bring your theme to life!
Decor can be relatively simple and clean, a white table cloth and pastel rainbow backdrop or details. Additional decor for the table can be anything that resembles a unicorn or rainbow, colour themed treats or anything with glitter. We particularly love the detailing that Berry & Flambé does on their parties. Every decor item for your party is designed and made JUST for you!
The cake is often the focal point of your table and brings your theme to life. Depending on your decision on cake, you could focus on the Rainbows or the Unicorn themes. Or you could go all out and do both!
For added awesome, you should get the inside layers of the cake in rainbow colours!
One of the best things about rainbows and unicorns is that you could literally add sprinkles and glitter to any party food and the kids will devour it. But some special party food ideas would be…
Unicorn Horns – Sugar cones covered with icing, sticky sauce and cake toppings. Don’t forget the edible glitter and hundreds and thousands! You can even set this up as a make-your-own edible craft!
Unicorn Cupcakes. We love these examples from Tessa’s Bakery!
And then there are colourful marshmallows, speckled eggs, rainbow meringues, sparkly lollipops or cake pops, various jelly sweets or themed or pastel coloured macaroons. To tie all the rainbow colours to the unicorn theme, you could use sugar cones as holders for some of the sweets!
No Rainbows and Unicorns party would be complete if you didn’t leave the party feeling like a unicorn yourself! Which means that the craft would be making and decorating your very own unicorn horns. Provide the children with pre-cut cardboard as well as string, pastel streamers and stickers. They’ll have lots of fun creating their masterpieces! You can even download the template created by a crafty American mama here.
6. Party packs / take homes
Last, but not least, it’s a tradition to send something home with the kids as a thank you for coming. There are so many different forms of party packs available! Berry & Flambé create such gorgeous original ones, boxes, bags, buckets, if you think of it, they can do it.
If you would prefer something a little less traditional, you could give rainbow lollies with little thank you notes, cutely packaged macaroons with personalised labels or even a pair of unicorn macaroons. As a special extra, you could add properly made unicorn head bands.
