New moms on the move – win with Adventure Boot Camp

Want to kick-start your weight-loss and fitness journey? Adventure Boot Camp is a great option – you get to exercise outdoors with a group of women, which makes the experience fun and motivational (sometimes just the boost you need to get going).

Work out at your own pace for 60 minutes in the morning or evening, using objects found in their natural environment to fuel your moves – this could mean running around a beautiful park or doing push-ups on a bench.

When can I start exercising after giving birth?

“Provided you’ve had an uncomplicated vaginal birth, you can start as soon as you feel up to it. With a caesarean birth, six weeks is the advised recovery time, says Chirene Wiid, Adventure Boot Camp franchise owner and trainer at Adventure Boot Camp, Kyalami.

The benefits of exercise – post pregnancy

Apart from the physical benefits of exercise, you’ll feel the mood-lifting buzz that you get as a result of the endorphins your body releases through exercise.

How are the classes structured?

Adventure Boot Camp classes are structured in such a way that the full body is targeted. “All of our classes are different and the same workout is never repeated during camp; this way there is always something to look forward to. The only thing that remains constant is that the classes are an hour long, start with a warm-up, which is then followed by a fun and intense workout, and ends with a cool down,” adds Chirene.

How long before you’ll see some benefit?

Adventure Boot Camp recommends attending a minimum of 12 sessions over four weeks (three days a week). “As long as you eat healthily and are conscious about your lifestyle, you will see some positive changes during your first camp. Obviously the more often you come, the quicker you’ll see the benefits,” says Chirene. “We have three packages to suit everybody’s lifestyle and pocket: 4, 12 and 20 sessions (1, 3 or 5 days per week) over the four-week camp.”
