Part of the royal guessing game is over as the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a baby girl early today.
Both Mom and baby are reportedly doing well at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington. Minutes ago, Prince George was collected by his Dad, the Duke of Cambridge, and returned to St Mary’s to visit his Mom and meet his new sister.
The next burning question is what the new princess will be named. The guessing game continues with a couple of options listed below:
Alice – the current favourite which is leading the field,
Charlotte – this is the feminine form of Charles. This would be in honour of William’s father and grandfather to the new baby, the Prince of Wales,
Diana – this would be in memory of the Duke’s late mother Diana. The Princess of Wales died in a car crash when William was 15. The Duke has kept her memory alive having already used her beautiful diamond and sapphire engagement ring when proposing to Kate,
Elizabeth – this could be on the list in honour of the reigning queen and grandmother of William, great grandmother to the new princess,
Alexandra – this is one of the Queen’s middle names and could come in as a favourite,
Mary – another of the Queen’s middle names bearing much royal pedigree.
