This past weekend Kensington Palace released photos of the newest member of the royal family together with her Prince sibling.
These are the first official portraits of Prince George and his new sister Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana born to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on 2 May 2015 at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington. And what could be sweeter than a little prince and his princess?
The couple and their children have been at Anmer Hall since leaving London shortly after the birth of the princess. This is where they are expecting to live for the next few years while raising their two children with the assistance of a full-time nanny. The new princess is fourth in line to the British throne after her brother Prince George and then their father, Prince William and finally grandfather, Prince Charles.
The photographs were taken by proud mom Kate who is said to be an avid amateur photographer who has studied portrait photography and enjoys it as a hobby. The photos were released to coincide with the announcement that Princess Charlotte will be christened next month at St Mary Magdalene Church on The Queen’s Sandringham estate on 5 July. Such glimpses into this family will remain reasonably rare as these royal children grow up. While the couple understand the public’s interest with their children, they have made it clear that they will not allow photographers to meddle in their daily life.
While little Prince George, who turns 2 at the end of July, and is destined to be King one day, has bigger adjustments to make right now while he learns to be a big brother to the new princess. And gauging from the portraits, he is clearly enjoying the role. There are similar portraits found in millions of homes all around the world; they may be the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge but just like us, they are first and foremost proud parents!
