Are your little superheroes ready for the annual Cape Town Cycle Tour Junior? The 2017 edition will take place on Sunday, 5 March 2017 and promises to be more fun than ever before!
David Bellairs, Marketing, Media and Sponsorship Director of the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust says, “We are excited to announce that the Cape Town Cycle Tour Junior event will be held at its new location, the Cape Town Stadium Precinct on the Sunday, 5 March 2017. The move to this new venue supports our vision to make the Cape Town Cycle Tour Junior a more intrinsic part of the Cape Town Cycle Tour Lifecycle Week festivities.”
So, do you want your budding little bike rider to experience the thrill of a cycling event, but in a safe and controlled environment? Cape Town Cycle Tour Junior has three distances to suit all ages, skill and fitness levels.
The 1.3km route will introduce youngsters, up to the age of 5 years old, to the basics of cycling. The older kids between the ages of 6 and 12 years can attempt the longer 4.2km or 7km routes. These routes offer keen riders an exciting challenge – sure to help them develop their cycling skills and get their legs moving!
Parents must accompany the 1.3km route entrants on foot, while the longer route entrants can be accompanied by a parent on a bike. The “no helmet, no ride” rule applies to both parents and riders on the longer routes.
Of course, this event is about so much more than just time on the bike. The day will also feature loads of excitement and surprises. From lucky draws (held at 11h00 for the 1.3km routes and 12h45 for the 4.2km and 7km routes), shows and other great activities, all ages are guaranteed to be entertained!
Online entries for the Cape Town Cycle Tour Junior opened on Friday, 20 January 2017 and close on Wednesday, 15 February 2017. Registration will take place from 1 – 4 March 2017 at the Canal Walk Shopping Centre from 09h00 to 21h00.
