Cooking with NOLA: Steak Marinade

Nothing embodies the melting pot of cultures in South Africa quite like food. It’s how we welcome guests, show our love for our family and friends and generally how we socialise.

If you’re tired of sticking to the same old same old menu and don’t feel that confident to try out some of your own twists on your guests, then let NOLA inspire you with some quick and easy Summer Holiday Food hacks. How about starting with this delicious steak marinade?

Steak Marinade


Ingredients (Serves 4) 

  • 1 cup (250ml) Nola Original Mayonnaise  
  • 2 cloves of garlic, crushed 
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) fresh thyme or rosemary 
  • ¼ cup (60ml) BBQ Spice  
  • 2 large rump steaks 


Mix the Nola Original Mayonnaise, garlic, herbs and spices together. Rub over the steaks and leave for 30 minutes. 

Braai the steak over hot coals until done to your liking, turning frequently to make sure the steaks don’t burn. 

Serving suggestion:  

Serve with hot rosemary pap with Nola Original Mayonnaise folded through.
