The do and don’ts of Parenting – is there only one way?

So you and your partner have taken the all-important decision to start a family. You have an idealist picture sorted in your mind of the most perfect little human being that you will create and you right, why shouldn’t they be?

However with Parenting come many different ideals, values and opinions as to how the job should be tackled correctly. There are many practical considerations to take into account with debates ranging from whether it is best to breastfeed or bottle feed, using cloth nappies versus disposable nappies, taking your baby to a day mother or keeping  them at home with a nanny in their own surroundings.

Once your maternity leave is up and the unsettling feeling sets in of having to leave your precious bundle in the care of someone else, further questions crop up yet again and important decisions need to be made.  Would it be best for Mom to sacrifice her career and become a stay-at-home mom or is she able to juggle both situations on a daily basis?  This will depend on your financial situation but maybe dad could be more flexible and step up to this job.

Ultimately there is no right or wrong way and the decision is with each individual couple and what suits the family best taking all the necessary options into consideration.  It is our job to respect the decisions of others and embrace the common goal of Parenthood as each one tries to do the best possible job of raising happy, healthy children into respectful, kind and caring adults.

This amazing video clip sums up the different feelings and assists at putting things into perspective.  Besides being thought evocative, it may even bring a tear to your eye and create a lump in your throat.
